Charles Dickens made two visits to the USA, the first, a holiday in 1842, the second, a reading tour in 1867 Thousands of people turned out to greet him everywhere he travelled. Dickens met the President, High Society and the famous and gave dramatic readings of his works which made him a very wealthy man.
In the book we have a 22 page section based on these tours, plus three establishments he visited that are still trading today: Delmonico's Restaurant - New York, The Golden lamb - Lebanon, and The Omni Parker House - Boston.
